Boss Babes Tuesday: Leeza Zeigler, Marketing Strategist

It can be a daunting task when you are setting out to start your own business. Between creating an aesthetic for your brand to setting up a price point and figuring out who your target customer is, it can get stressful quickly. I know this because I went through it first hand when I was running my own baking company. The vision and the passion was there but unfortunately I was missing out on quite a few other things. I was self taught and found my way through trial and error, but looking back I really could have benefited from the help of a professional. The largest struggle we encountered concerned my price point for my products. This is a problem that I have heard from friends in industries all across the board, and most recently I have especially noticed free-lancers and influencers struggling with this dilemma. My Boss Babes Tuesday interview this week is with Leeza Zeigler. She is a marketing strategist, a graphic designer, and recently released an E-book about finding your worth. Read on below to hear more about her story.

H:
What inspired you to start your business?

L:
I’ve always wanted to own my own business. I wanted to build something from the ground up, an empire. I wanted to provide people with jobs and leave a lasting legacy behind for my children and the generations to follow.

H:
What are your tips for an entrepreneur trying to juggle life along with a self started career?

L:
I think that in life, it’s all about balance. I’ve figured that important fact out along the way. Being an entrepreneur, you will definitely face some challenges, and those challenges will cause you to make a few changes here and there to help you find a suitable balance that is right for you. I’ve learned that when you use balance as your approach, you’ll be able to settle on a good schedule that suits both your life along with a self-started career.

H:
I know first hand how difficult it can be as an entrepreneur trying to set a price point based on your skill set. You focus on this in your E-book; Can you give us some basic advice and tell us a little bit more about your book?

L:
In my new E-book, "How to Find High-Paying Clients: Get Paid What You're Worth." I provide a guide that contains the blueprint that will help creative entrepreneurs on their journey to a profitable creative business. One thing that I discuss in my E-book is that pricing your services correctly is an essential thing to do because you should never be afraid to get paid what you’re worth. You never want to set a price that is too high or set a price that is too low. In most circumstances doing either one of these could significantly limit your cash flow, sales and affect your overall business growth. This is why it is imperative that you pinpoint your ideal customer because you need to know who they are, as well as the type of budget they will have. I go further in depth about this and so much more in my new E-book.

H:
Aesthetic is so important in branding in order to stand out amongst the crowd. How can a small business or an emerging brand find a brand identity that will help them become successful?

                                                             L:
I think that every small business or emerging brand should definitely understand that when it comes to building a brand, it’s not something that will happen overnight or even a few months because building a brand is a long, ongoing process. The key to a successful brand is all about being consistent across multiple applications in regards to your brand's communication and experience. If you keep going and stay consistent, those efforts will pay off in the end.

H:
You also help businesses with expense budgeting. Tell us a little about your spreadsheets and how they can assist in recording expenses in a more efficient way.

L:
One thing that we know for certain, is that to start a business and run a business, it will cost money. Just like taking your first steps into adulthood can be a financial wobble, the same can be true of the first year owning and running your business. That’s why it is imperative to have a start-up cost budget, so I’ve created a Budgeting Expenses spreadsheet that can be used to calculate and estimate the amount of money needed to start a new small business. The spreadsheet is intended for assisting creative entrepreneurs with the first 3 months to the first year of estimated expenses for their new business because we all want to accomplish our budget goals so we can spend more time enjoying the creative things that we love.
