In our ever-evolving society, aesthetic is becoming more and more important. From showcasing your life and business in the correct light on social media to creating the perfect outfit and learning to carry yourself correctly, how we present ourselves to the world sets the tone for our successes and failures in life. Beyond that, how we choose to portray ourselves also helps bolster our own self confidence and can alter your mood, happiness, and mental health. I was excited and curious to speak with Alycia Anderson to learn more about how she helps women find their personal style and in turn their voice.
What pulled you towards becoming an image consultant?

I've always loved hair, makeup and fashion. Growing up I was obsessed with makeover shows and was mesmerized by the look in the eyes of the person seeing themselves post-makeover for the first time. There is something so raw, so powerful, and so beautiful in a person being able to see themselves in all of their strength. I became an Image Consultant to deliver just that; to remind women how incredible they are, in a society that is constantly telling them they aren't enough.

The most common request I hear from clients is that they want to make a change, but don't know where to start. Often women are sporting the same style of hair, clothing or makeup routine that they've had for years; some since high school or college. I work with clients to update their look so that it matches where they currently are in life, stays true to who they are, and opens future doors.

The biggest wardrobe faux pas I see is that people don't build a professional wardrobe that is industry specific. The professional style for a stock broker does, and should, look different than the style of a writer, executive, or artist. Your wardrobe and appearance are the introduction to you and your personal brand. The styles, colors, shapes, and structure of your wardrobe needs to match your chosen industry while incorporating elements of your personality.

True style is such an empowering medium. I love watching people transform and see themselves with revitalized confidence and a new sense of purpose. When you put a person in the right outfit, all that's left is to stand back and watch them conquer the world.
